This project was a complete structural upgrade and remodel of the east half of a late 50's ranch style home in Portland, Oregon. The work included a gut and redesign of the entry, living room, dining room, and kitchen, as well as the addition of a 300 sf covered, second story deck.
The Lymans live outdoors as much as they do in, and their property enjoys a sweeping forest view to the south. The central idea of the design was to blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, particularly between the dining room and deck addition. The resulting space is a greatroom, open to the forested site beyond.
This project was designed by Dave when he was a principal with Architecture Office, LLC in Portland, Oregon.
