New Juneau Arts, Culture and Civic Center (NJACCC)

The Juneau Arts and Culture Center was initiated as a stand-alone arts and culture center building for the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council in 2016 and is now moving forward in 2025 as the Capital Civic Center expansion to Juneau’s Centennial Hall.

The project is in development under a collaboration between NorthWind Architects in Juneau and Hacker Architects in Portland, and is a composite of renovations to Centennial Hall and the addition of 33,000 GSF of building area including:

  • The 299-seat theater with orchestra pit, mezzanine and supporting spaces & equipment.
  • Community Hall and supporting spaces.
  • Performance Studio (Black Box Theater)
  • Interconnecting vestibule/lobby common space and Hearth
  • Art Gallery
  • Artist Store
  • Box office and Concessions center
  • Administrative offices

A Bid alternate under consideration is a second floor to par of the existing Centennial Hall that will expand the Civic Center’s conference capability with added meeting rooms.  This is an addition of approximately 13,000 sf of building area on the existing structure to include:

  • New bathroom stacked over and matching in configuration
  • Four new meeting room approximately 950 sf each.
  • 400 sf facilities office space.
  • 500 sf business center
  • 400 sf audio support room (for equipment staging, not recording)
  • 1500 sf storage and support space
  • Additional lobby space and hallways.
