This project was undertaken by a collaboration of the architecture firms NorthWind Architects in Juneau and Charles Bettisworth & Co. in Fairbanks. Haines is a very involved and vocal community. We held a series of public work sessions to create a collaborative design process which resulted in community wide endorsement of the new design.

Another interesting aspect of this job was the selection of a contractor using a General Contractor Manager-at-Risk procurement method. The contractor, Dawson Construction, based their bid on 65% complete drawings and became part of the design team for the remainder of the design process, helping us deliver a project with minimal change orders.
