Mt. Edgecumbe High School Masterplan

Mt. Edgecumbe High School is a public residential school that attracts the brightest children from across Alaska and provides the education they need to become productive citizens and leaders. The school is housed in structures originally built in the 1940s as part of a military base. The barracks have been converted to dorms and an airplane hanger houses the gym and classrooms. An academic building with classrooms, library and administrative offices was completed in 1988.

In 2009 NorthWind was hired by the State of Alaska to perform a variety of design services for the campus. The Masterplan includes a condition assessment of ten major buildings, cost estimates and projections of costs to maintain the structures. Planning work also included a campus-wide energy analysis, a feasibility study for a new academic wing, and a financial analysis for the construction and maintenance of a new swimming pool building on campus.
