Mt. Edgecombe Hospital Emergency Department

Sitka, ak

This project includes a complete gut and replacement on the ground floor of a multi-story, WWII era reinforced concrete building, and presented significant Infection Control Risk Mitigation, hazardous materials abatement, structural, mechanical and electrical challenges. The existing Emergency Department was temporarily relocated, and the work carefully isolated and staged to allow healthcare operations to continue uninterrupted in the rest of the building. Work included development of a new nurse station, triage room, two trauma rooms – combinable into one larger room as needed, a bariatric treatment room and airborne infectious disease isolation room as well as a secure pharmaceutical dispensary and sterilization suite.
