NorthWind Architects was hired to design this new home overlooking Auke Bay. Unique to the owner needs, and desire not to cover the site with a large building footprint, this home is three stories tall, carved into a hillside. It incorporates a combined residential elevator and stair, situated below a day lighting cupola at the apex of the hip roof. Other features include a vehicle garage, a workshop/exercise garage, and an accessory apartment.

The owners’ goals of energy efficiency and durable, low maintenance materials were coupled with traditional building forms. A high degree of owner involvement from design through construction led to a very successful project occupied by happy clients.
